UT ACM Club Constitution
About
As the premier computer science club on campus, the ACM club aims to provide students with opportunities to expand their CS knowledge and skills beyond what is provided in the classroom.
Workshops
We will hold weekly workshops that generally consist of a presentation on various interesting computer science related topics. Presenters will primarily be students of the club with occasional guest speakers such as faculty or industry professionals.
Club Leadership
At the end of each Spring semester, the club will vote for the following leadership positions for the next academic school year. Each role can be kept for two consecutive terms. The advisor can overrule as needed.
- President: The president is responsible for leading the board and club as a team effort. They will be shaping the aims and goals of the club for the upcoming year. They should also have a good idea of how the club can work effectively. Some specific duties are to attend ICC meetings, meet with the club advisor, plan club activities, work with the advisor to plan the annual programming contest, and represent the club. It is understood that this position will require time and effort throughout their term.
- Vice President: The vice president is responsible for assisting the president with developing the goals and the planning and delivering of club activities. They will be able to help provide more ideas on what the club can include. It is important for the vice president to familiarize themselves with the duties of the president to help out in case the president is not able to lead. If the president is not able to attend the ICC meetings, the vice president will go instead.
- Treasurer: The treasurer is responsible for tacking the budget of the club. This can include helping plan what to buy for activities, taking note of how much we receive, and how much we spend. They will also be responsible for making purchases when assigned by the president.
- Secretary: The secretary is responsible for the documentation and communication of the club activities. They should be able to prepare agendas for meetings and schedule out times. They should also take into account how many people attend meetings by counting.
Programming Contest
The club, in coordination with the Department of Computing and Design, hosts an annual programming contest every Spring semester. Members of the club are encouraged to participate. As cosponsor of the event, the club has various responsibilities to help plan out the contest:
- Designing and ordering shirts
- Designing the trophies
- Planning and ordering food
- Advertising the event
